Symbiosy assesses space utilisation, indoor environmental quality and in-company collaborative networks. This enables excellent workspace management, boosts cooperation and efficiency, and ensures user comfort, helping companies to connect and thrive. Symbiosy is an extension of the people, planet, and performance values of HB Reavis. We created Symbiosy in 2018 as a separate business unit to solve some of the problems which we saw within our own buildings – namely that there was little in the way of a data feedback loop in order to drive better performance of space within the workplace. Since then Symbiosy has evolved into a holistic smart workplace solution. Data collection is our bread and butter, with over 1.5 million data points collected in our HQ daily, which support insights into space utilisation, workstyles, collaboration, and environmental quality. More recently, Symbiosy has taken the next step by providing mobile applications to improve user experience. These allow employees to book spaces based on environmental factors, seating styles, or even proximity to other team members. There are also functionalities for seamless building access, meeting room control, virtual queues for coffee or lunch in the café, and even receiving local retail and events offers. The improvement in our workplace satisfaction surveys has been nothing short of dramatic, and we are increasingly hearing from our HR teams that our offices are turning into a true selling point when attracting talent. From an architecture perspective, we are fully open. Symbiosy provides a host of simple but secure API or building protocol based integrations to other software and hardware providers. Simultaneously, our Azure backbone and commercial model allow for significant elasticity in scaling the solution, both at an organisational and site level. This allows us to work with organisations and tailor Symbiosy specifically to their unique needs. That customisation is then supported through a close collaboration between our network of hardware partners and our in house living laboratory, the combination of which facilitates the deployment of new or bespoke use cases in a matter of weeks rather than months. The same mechanisms have also allowed us to react quickly when required, whereby our subscribers receive the full benefit of new use cases as technology and user requirements change. The host of Covid response use cases we have already developed is no exception - contact tracing and predictive cleaning are two of our most impactful for facilitating a smooth return to the workplace.
