Decision makers such as real estate developers and councils (and increasingly even employers and those in charge of our children’s education), are discovering how technology can help harness the power of the communities they serve to create better projects and outcomes that provide lasting social impact. Effective consultation with the wider community is integral to successful outcomes, however this process is often skewed by the views of a vocal minority group who have more time and resources to feedback on prospective projects. There is often a lack of motivation amongst the silent majority to engage, which Give My View seeks to address. Put simply, Give My View makes it easier for decision makers to get value out of community engagement, and for communities to more easily affect the decisions that affect them. Through an interactive, dynamic web platform, Give My View empowers the community to feel a sense of ownership and positive investment in the decisions that may affect them. The platform is designed to attract engagement from a diverse range of the community. This includes younger people, busy parents, people with disabilities and minorities, and Give My View’s visually stimulating, gamified polls take no more than 2 minutes to complete. Points can be earned by the community as they answer Give My View’s polls, and these points translate into money for a selection of charities chosen by the decision-maker. Decision-makers can subsequently translate thousands of voices from the community into actionable ideas, via readily and easily available data reports produced by the platform.
