Problem In recent years phones have gotten smart, cars are getting smarter, thermostats have gotten smart, loudspeakers have gotten smart and even doorbells are getting smart Not so with buildings. While isolated systems like energy, maintenance and security have gotten smarter, buildings as a category lag behind. Each system remains in its own silo and there is no common data ontology and software platform on which to build the applications that will transform the tenant experience. Think about it like a smartphone with no OS, no SDK and where every developer needs to build their application from the ground up. The result would be a “hodgepodge” of applications that don’t play well together and don’t provide a holistic or consistent user experience.
